we don’t have the chance to rent any gear. my setup will only include a handful of smartphones, some IoT gadgets, and a couple of TVs—so fast connections aren’t essential. i was considering the xr 500 linus mentioned mainly for priority bandwidth. what are your thoughts?

every single piece is going to be ready, especially the key item, and the primary living room screen will link through Ethernet

It seems to function well, but I don’t have any personal experience with it. The main concern is the cost—around $300 USD—which is quite high. If your devices support 4K and connect via Ethernet, you might find a more affordable alternative.

What are your thoughts on options around 150 dollars? I’m looking for something that works well without needing a separate access point. You mentioned bandwidth is important, so I’ll focus on devices with strong data capabilities. If you’re okay with a premium choice, it should offer features you don’t see in the XR500. Ideally, you want it to deliver full speed for all users—no shared reduction.

I don't have clear suggestions. I rely on my Synolgy router, but I'm unsure if it offers everything you're seeking. That's a common concern—many devices promise features that aren't fully realized. QoS settings often come across as poorly executed in consumer models. I can't comment on ASUS or Netgear software directly. From what I've seen, TP Link firmware seemed quite basic on the latest router I used. DLink firmware was really confusing at one point. My Synology Router can allocate bandwidth to devices or restrict it, but it doesn't seem to adjust dynamically. I haven't tested this myself; it feels like you're asking for 5 Mbps dedicated to my Roku stick, and it works fine. Honestly, I haven't tried it because I don't need it and I don't have any 4K displays at home.

I’ll examine your router more closely. However, the SMR desktop doesn’t seem to match what I was seeking. Still, I’m considering the XR500 because of Duma OS—it feels more practical for me. Does your router offer any standout feature that would be useful in my situation?
