Forza Horizon 3 has seen significant improvements with the latest patch.
I just started playing Forza Horizon 3 after hearing about the recent updates. The game works great now. Previously I was getting only 45 frames per second in the city at full settings, but with shadows off it dropped to 1440p and 1440p. Now everything runs smoothly at around 72 fps with all options turned on.
How is CPU utilization looking? Is there any core consistently operating at full capacity?
I'm interested in observing the changes. The issue wasn't a major problem since even the strongest i7s showed similar CPU activity.
I'll take a brief walk around the city to get a feel for what's happening.
Discovered an article highlighting major CPU improvements and reduced requirements for Forza Horizon 3. I’ve been using the Xbox version because the game kept stuttering, and I’m planning to try it again on my system to see the performance boost firsthand!
I just messed up in-game. I capped the FPS and positioned the camera far away from the car. CPU usage was high, which is normal for most games. There were spikes to 100 occasionally in the city, but it's much better than before the patch. Now I can play without the frustrating drops—previously it would jump from a smooth outside frame rate to around 40 when entering the city. Inside the city at max settings, my FPS averaged about 75, with 8xms at 1440p and over 100 outside. Please note, this is based on my personal experience.
My insights align with your specifications. Since you have a comparable setup, reviewing the performance gains would be beneficial too!
I run Maxed Settings 4x MSAA on a GTX 1060 with an i5 4590 and consistently achieve around 70 FPS on Surfers Paradise without any frame drops below 60.
