Recently, my RAM has reserved 4.1GB out of 8. Fortnite was not running despite having all available memory. I am now performing a clean Windows installation.

I’ve updated my bios and reinstalled Windows, which resolved the Fortnite issue, however my PC now shows only 3.9 GB of RAM available despite previously reporting 7.9 GB. This is negatively impacting my gaming performance, and I require assistance.

Test booting with one stick of RAM in each memory slot. Does the operating system recognize each stick? Then repeat the test with the remaining stick.

The system identifies 8GB of DDR4 dual-channel memory and reports no issues.

Your previous post indicated the operating system recognized only 4GB rather than 8GB. You may have a defective module; please attempt the procedure described previously.

Ensure you have installed the 64-bit version of Windows 10; this allows for full utilization of your system's memory (8GB in your instance). The 32-bit version is limited to a maximum of 4GB (approximately 3.9GB).

I consistently verify that the system utilizes a 64-bit architecture. I have tested both RAM sticks, but one initially failed; however, it functioned when inserted into another slot, reporting 7.9 GB. Following two hours of use, the PC crashed, and the reported RAM capacity decreased to 3.9 GB. Each crash resets the overclock settings and limits available RAM to 3.9 GB. Furthermore, 0 MB is allocated for system reserved space.

I open up Task Manager it says 4GB RAM but Speccy and CPU Z and my BIOS say 8GB of RAM. My PC crashes then my RAM goes to 3.9GB from 7.9GB, it sometimes detects 7.9 in Task Manager, could it be RAM because I have dropped my RAM before?
