Forced Driver Updates in Windows 10 Is the Worst Idea Ever, Here's Why
After weeks of effort and several tries, I finally managed to get Windows 10 working on my Macbook White from around 2010. It was surprisingly smooth compared to what I expected. On the other hand, it was a frustrating experience. This wasn't enjoyable at all—it felt like a nightmare. I'll share how really bad it was when Windows 10 tried to install the newest NVIDIA GPU driver!
It's good to hear it didn't impact your desktop, but this is still problematic for the kind of project you're working on.
In fact, it should function properly based on what I've observed and learned.
And yet with linux you wouldn't have had that issue. Basides the air is a x86 computer just like all the others, there is no real reason for which windows 10 shouldn't run on it fine, especially when the only real problem was caused by windows update.
It would work fine, if Windows update hadn't installed that update. A bad update could affect your desktop Agreed, and here is the proof I had Ubuntu on it before. But as usual, it's down to compatibility. At some point i will put Ubuntu on there. But first i need to do a system image backup (which isn't working, so i'll need to fix that). My Macbook is a MB mid 2010. Not air: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ma...specs.html Nope. You guys are forgetting that i've put countless hours of research into this. Installing the most recent version of the BC support software that's compatible with my macbook is recommended.
There are alternatives if you prefer not to install the driver immediately.
Updates must cease immediately—both in updating your device without consent and in aggressively pushing changes without any real control. My Huawei P30 Lite functions perfectly, thank you. It’s five years old, and with EMUI 12 it feels sluggish and clunky, with an interface I dislike. EMUI 10 offers a smoother experience and a UI that doesn’t frustrate me. But Huawei keeps forcing these updates, and turning them off isn’t possible unless you’re a specialist with advanced skills. Downgrading to the latest version is technically supported, but it’s a complicated process. I’m a hands-on user—no formal training, yet I understand my tech. I can update BIOS on a PC and work with registry tools, but I shouldn’t need special software to change my OS. Root access or custom firmware aren’t options for me. This has to stop!
