I have a plan to combine an AM5 Ryzen 5 9600x with a used 3060 Ti I’ll buy from a friend. I’m leaning toward AMD because of the Intel issues with older generations and prefer staying within the 13th gen range. I’m curious if another option exists, keeping costs under $250 USD.

The 13th and 14th generation releases occurred, but if they’re happening it’s likely user error—previously resolved by inexperienced users bypassing power caps to reach 6ghz or higher. In this scenario, the top choice would be a 9600X or 14600K; the 14th is often more affordable, though pricing varies by local market. Microcenter offers deals we can’t reference online.

You're considering the 9700X or splurging on the 9600X. I'd steer clear of Intel for another generation due to reliability concerns. How much are you charging your friend for the 3060Ti? Ideally under $200. Are you close to a Microcenter? If yes, take advantage of their 9600X package.

I aim to buy the 3060 Ti for around $200 (possibly less). It hasn’t been used much, just alongside other GPUs in an office. Benchmarks show it’s in excellent shape. I’m roughly six hours from the closest Microcenter.
