Yes, you're pointing out a discrepancy. The website lists SS10 for the rear port, but the specs say 10Gbps only on one port. It seems like a possible copy-paste error when retrieving older data. Gen 1 has a limit of 5Gbps on Type A, while 10 and 20Gbps need both lanes of Type C. I might be mistaken, but it does seem relevant for my use case since VR works on Gen 1 and most high-speed devices do too. If you think I missed something, let me know.

From an input/output standpoint, the Crosshair HERO offers similar rear panel choices, just missing the second front panel found in Gen 1 models. An add-on card could fix that. Your thoughts matter—would you feel awkward adding a 5950x to the MEG, Master, or HERO? If not, the HERO’s better I/O options make it the obvious choice.

You shouldn't feel pressured to invest a certain sum in a board simply because you own a 5950X. Even a more affordable B550 model such as the MSI B550 Tomahawk can comfortably accommodate that chip. I suggest jotting down the features you need and then refining your choices accordingly. You can always incorporate additional components like a 10G LAN card if the board lacks them. Regarding the Crosshair Formula, it’s only worthwhile for custom loops since it includes a built-in waterblock. The X570 Unify/Ace/Tomahawk, Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master and X570 Crosshair Hero (Dark Hero) are all reliable options.
