Hello! Welcome to PC building. You're considering the Ryzen 3 3300X and looking for the right motherboard. The Asus Prime B550M-A AM4 Micro ATX is an option, but it might not be the best fit yet. Let me know if you'd like more suggestions or tips on what to look for in a motherboard. Thanks!

Are you thinking about boosting performance? Which cooling solution will you use? If your answer to the first question is no and the second refers to stock or a small air cooler, the motherboard should handle it just fine. The 3300x consumes minimal power and generates little heat. For serious overclocking with a large tower or AIO, consider checking the tier list and opt for a tier D or higher.

Thanks for the prompt response from Naijin. I’m probably starting to overclock once I get the hang of it, though I won’t be doing big jumps. Regarding cooling, I haven’t reached that point yet.

According to the tier list, b550 DS3H, Pro4 and Pro VDH are affordable yet sufficient for the 3300x. I’m not sure I’d pick a B550 Bazooka or B550 A Pro.

I recommend trying the maximum performance setting. A 4.5ghz clock with 1.4-1.45v should work well even with a budget cooler like the Se 224 XT or Freezer 34. Could you share your budget and where you're from? Also, let me know what you plan to use the computer for and if you need any additional features like Wi-Fi. What components have you already chosen besides the CPU?

Thanks for the info. My budget is about $1100 AUD (including monitor and keyboard). I’m based in Australia and plan to use a PC for gaming—Apex Legends, Minecraft, Overwatch plus new titles. For work, I’ll be using Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, maybe Blender, and general tools like YouTube and Google. So far, I’ve put together a 1660 second-hand, budget-friendly setup.

That GPU is too expensive—maybe a 5700G would be better.

5700g 8 core, the igpu performs okay but you’ll need to boost the RAM speed. Ryzen appreciates fast memory, especially the GPU, though you should also consider adjusting other settings. Optimize the RAM for maximum performance and reduce errors or crashes by lowering timings slightly and easing overall adjustments while maintaining decent quality.
