I received 8 GB of RAM, but the system automatically allocated 9 GB on an SSD. Would increasing it further boost performance during gaming?

For the shaky port of WW3 (Steam game) and probably many others, a modest boost is possible. I adjusted my default settings during Windows installation—2048/32096 for minimum and maximum—to start at 2GB, expanding as needed. It rarely stays static, but keep it enabled; some applications still rely on it and may crash if missing.

When physical RAM runs low, Windows relies on virtual memory to move less important data into slower storage, freeing up space for active tasks. This approach doesn’t boost speed and can actually slow things down significantly. Ideally, avoid using virtual memory altogether—it serves only as a safety net to prevent applications from crashing due to memory shortages.

Only a few games, like ARMA 3, keep their files on the page file, so turning them off isn't always possible.
