For high temperatures on an i7 860
I increased my i7 860 to 3ghz and it performs well—51c at idle and 86-90 under load. I have a powerful cooler, so I’m curious if something was off. As a beginner in overclocking, any advice would be appreciated!
Hi Shinnio,
I’m also just starting with overclocking, so I hope the other users will help confirm or fix this.
It seems a bit high—do you have a cooler air or liquid? Also, since you’re overclocking below the chip’s turbo speed, I’d expect the temperatures to be lower than that. Good luck figuring it out!
Which one is cooler? What is the base clock speed of the chips? It could simply be that this is the limit the cooler is designed to manage.
