Hey there! I upgraded my gaming rig to an AMD 5600X and RTX 3070 recently. I’m planning to upgrade an old Alienware Pre-built with a Core i7 8700 and GTX 1660 into a compact form factor for my basement. The challenge is that I have limited experience with Intel motherboards and processors, since my current project was mostly AMD-focused. What’s the best ITX motherboard to pair with the 8700? I’m aiming for a budget between $150 and $250 and would really appreciate any suggestions. Your input would be super helpful!
Your PCpp list is currently marked as private. It seems no one has created motherboard tier guides for non-overclockable 1151v2 chipsets. Boards from this era are no longer available new, and eBay listings reveal used ITX boards with entry-level chipsets are quite expensive (around $200 minimum). Since you're not overclocking and the 1660 Super will limit performance, I’d recommend picking any compatible ITX board you can find for a more affordable option.
I was thinking about whether a Z470/z490 or something even newer would suit. It’s not built for top-tier speed, as I already have my main system in the room. This is more of a budget mini ITX for the basement. I just need a cheap motherboard that fits inside the case. Also, my PC component shopper is closed—sorry about that.
