I need to make sure I understand this correctly. I'm completely new to this process, so please don't judge me—I just want to turn this sweet ThinkPad L420 into a hackintosh. I followed the guide you linked, which seems popular right now because it doesn’t require a Mac or a dedicated hackintosh. However, I ran into issues creating SSDTs for my Sandy Bridge processor. The guide mentioned using a script called ssdtprgen.sh, but I couldn’t get it to work on either Windows or Linux. In Linux it worked but no files appeared. I’d really appreciate any help in making this machine run as a hackintosh without needing another MacOS system.

I haven’t tried the guide you mentioned, and fortunately I haven’t had to generate SSDTs. It seems you’re likely meant to run that shell script inside macOS, not on Windows, and running it on Linux wouldn’t be possible because it depends on macOS’s kernel data.

The guide outlines steps to prepare your system. First, create an SSDT using the provided link for Windows or Linux to enable bootability. Next, generate an SSDT-EC via the same link to address the embedded controller issue. After setting up a bootable MacOS installation, run the "ssdtprgen.sh" script from within to configure power management settings.
