Hi there, looking to purchase a desktop this spring to upgrade from your Toshiba Yoga 7 15ITLS 11th gen i5 with 8GB RAM. 64-bit Windows 11 Home, 14x9 inches, bought from Best Buy.
Budget is flexible, I’m unsure what to focus on. Around $1000 seems reasonable.
I’m aiming for improved graphics and better picture quality for movies and YouTube compared to the Toshiba.
A slightly larger screen would be nice.
Includes a DVD reader.
I think I’ll keep using the laptop mainly for light music track editing in Reaper and light browsing.
Uncertain about the next questions except that I’m in the San Diego area and can’t build my own desktop.
I’m comfortable with Lenovo, so preferably a familiar or user-friendly system.
A quiet environment would be ideal.
Thanks ahead of time.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Consider exploring a ready-made system or an all-in-one setup and, given your knowledge of Lenovo, perhaps check this option:

That would essentially be a laptop's internal components.

Desktop. In the future I might explore more features in Reaper than just tracking right now. Right now I’m focusing on graphics cards and the Lenovo idea center mentioned above. Regarding Reaper, I’d only replace an old 16-track setup since my rackmount system is already set up for tone.
Are you sure you’d feel comfortable constructing a PC? You’ll achieve superior value this way. I’ll also highlight the Mac mini—they’re compact, silent, fit comfortably in a budget, and Macs are typically excellent for audio tasks.
No, you are not saying that. You are simply asking if you have a TV that could be used as a monitor.
I’m willing to work with another person or a business to develop it.
I have good experience with Windows and Lenovo laptops; I’m not really inclined to move to a Mac.
I’m currently absorbing a lot of information.
