Hey there! I’m thinking about getting a new laptop. After checking online, I didn’t find much detailed comparison between the i5-1155G7 and the 5550U. It seems hardware reviews are limited, so I’m leaning toward the more common 11th gen Intel options since they’re widely available locally. I also considered AMD, but it looks like there aren’t any laptops in my budget that have it.

In my view, the 11th generation was largely unsuccessful. AMD provides significantly more performance for the cost. Plus, you receive much superior integrated graphics when your laptop lacks a separate GPU such as from Nvidia or AMD.

The claims about improved IGPU in the latest 11th generation are generally accurate. It’s understandable to feel confused since finding reliable information can be tricky.

Many people claim AMD GPUs perform better. I’m not sure where this idea came from. You might want to check the actual reviews and tests instead of relying on personal views, since benchmarks are reliable.

I attempted to search for those benchmarks, but only found a single video link, which is sufficient. I’m here to assist with any other questions you might have.

Intel laptops feature their Xe graphics, which outperforms AMD's iGPUs. The transition from Tiger Lake to Rocket Lake shows notable improvements. Intel's Tiger Lake (10nm) delivers solid performance in low-power situations. For lower power needs, AMD might be preferable, but for 4 cores with a decent integrated GPU, the 11th generation Intel lineup is excellent.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s clear you’re aiming for a balance between cost and performance. I appreciate the insight that the i5-1155G7 represents an upgrade over the previous 11th-gen chips, though it’s still a bit behind the latest generation. For me, the GPU feature will be important depending on my needs. I’m okay without multiple cores if they’re not essential, but I’ve noticed single-core performance tends to be stronger on Intel processors.
