I bought a new SSD and was trying to adjust file permissions on C:/Users. My old Windows 8 files were still on the HDD, and Windows 10 was installed there. I moved those files over and faced several issues. Access to my user files was blocked, some programs wouldn’t run, login problems appeared, right-clicking caused crashes, and even the file explorer and taskbar became unresponsive. I’m hoping someone can help restore the old HDD so I can use my desktop normally. Microsoft advised me to stop trying, but I appreciate any advice you have. Thanks in advance, Kevin P.S. I realize I messed up by doing this.

Consider uploading your key files to a storage location and formatting them there.
