Hello everyone, initially English isn't my native language, so I hope you grasp what I mean. I got GTA V from Epic Games because they offered it free until May 21st, and I figured it was a good chance to try it out. I wanted to tweak the graphics options a bit. I started with the paid free version of GTA V and opened it for the first time. The settings were set to the default "Normal" mode, which is what I expected. My goal was to boost the graphics to at least "High," though not all features. The problem arose because summer heat caused my CPU to overheat (reaching 99°C) and cause throttling. I needed to raise only the GPU settings, not the CPU ones. There are several GPU options available, but I’m unsure which ones affect just the graphics. If anyone has time, please let me know which settings apply solely to the GPU. Here’s a quick rundown of my specs:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2
- CPU: Intel Core I5-750 2.80GHz
- Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1050 TI Windforce 4GB (not overclocked)
- RAM: Corsair 12GB DDR3 1333MHz
- SSD: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB

Adjusted all parameters to low, enabled VSync, then verified your frame rates. If it hits 60+fps, shift to medium and keep raising settings until you reach the point where the desired rate isn’t maintained. I think the game also includes a benchmark test with suggested configurations.

Ensure proper airflow, then clean the CPU cooler and apply fresh thermal paste.

In the standard configurations I recall, you typically see around 65 FPS. The "recommended settings" are usually mentioned in a dedicated section or guide. Let me know if you need more details! Thanks for asking.

It's accurate that finances are a concern during the ongoing coronavirus situation, making it unclear when I'll update my stock cooler. My PC dust cleaning was just two days ago, and since I haven’t replaced the paste in three years, it’s time to refresh it.

It seems like you're suggesting a small adjustment. You might want to boost the graphics settings slightly by switching one of them from standard to high.

I could also benefit from GeForce experience and select the best configurations there. Edited May 17, 2020 by AleksiDj73

Give it a try with a fresh paste and observe the outcome. You can purchase affordable high-quality thermal paste.
