Hello everyone,
it's been almost a year now that I'm facing this issue. Most of the time my mouse doesn't feel "1-1" – it's too fast for me and I don't get precise at all.
I thought maybe it was time to upgrade, so I changed everything.
Gpu: From Radeon 5700xt to RTX 3080
Cpu: From ryzen 5 1600x to Ryzen 5 5600x
Motherboard: From x470 gaming Plus to X570S Edge Max Wifi
I have several different mice – Logitech G Pro X Superlight (main), Razer DeathAdder V2 wireless + V3 Pro, Glorious Model O wireless
I've tried three different Mousepads – Equate Mousepad (main), Artisan Zero, and Zowie G-SR
Power supply: From RM 750 to RM1000x
I have two monitors – AW2518HF (240HZ) and a ViewSonic 60HZ.
I've switched from a CAT 5 ethernet cable to a CAT 7
I live in a large European city.
I've tested various Windows versions and custom ISO files.
Bios updated
I'm struggling to find a solution for every game I feel "late" or not precise at all. I'm playing at 400 DPI, and my mouse on the desktop feels too fast – I can't really control it as I want.
I think it might be related to my connection (we switched operators 6-7 months ago) or possibly my CPU.
If an expert sees this post, I wouldn't mind spending money – I've been searching for a fix for months. I usually enjoy fixing small issues, but this one is too complicated for me. I can't fix it at all honestly.

avoid having any mouse control programs running in the background all the time.
these options might affect how other mice behave.

I understand the issue with my aim in FPS games and wonder if it's related to my habits like drinking coffee or not eating regularly.

Discussions around mouse polling rates and smoothing/acceleration settings on Windows are common. Have you experimented with various USB controllers for your motherboard? The 400 DPI setting is considered quite low compared to modern gaming mice, especially when considering older models like the one with 600 DPI from 2006. A budget Logitech G305 offers 12000 DPI, while my previous Steel Series model provided 5700 DPI.

I tested all USB ports, but the issue started when I was younger using 1600 ports, which worked then, but now it's 400 and my mouse movement feels too fast.

It might be related to human factors, but over the past eight months my FPS has been steadily declining. I sleep well and only have coffee in the morning.

I've also spoken with many individuals facing the same issue. I'm also in touch with someone who was once semi-pro in CS GO; they shared that this challenge actually caused them to quit playing.

May not be a minor issue.
It's been nearly a year now that I'm experiencing this problem. Most of the time, my mouse doesn't feel "1-1" — it moves too quickly for me, and I don't get precise at all.
What if the problem isn't related to hardware, software, or settings?
Games? Which ones?
Just for clarity.
Could it be linked to obsession, addiction, burnout, or a lack of personal satisfaction from winning?
I’m not (full disclosure) a medical professional.
This semi-pro player might have reached their limit and realized "enough was enough."
Perhaps you're now at the same stage. The symptoms can change.
Would it help to stop playing games for less than (your choice of) an hour a day, or for 2 or 3 days without playing?
If not, then your statement — "I've got to say ... etc..." — suggests you're really noticing the core issue.
Think about the bigger picture.

Thank you for your thoughtful message. I'm also considering that maybe I'm reaching my peak performance in most games, and I can comfortably skip playing for a few days without any issues. Burnout can happen too—sometimes I play around 4 to 5 hours and end up not doing very well, while other times I play longer like 30 hours and stop when something feels off instead of getting frustrated. It's not just occasional gaming; even with everything set up on my desktop, my mouse feels unusually fast, which might be due to the low input settings or a real issue with the hardware.
