Sure, just watch the video carefully, insert the USB device in the right place, and press the button. The whole thing should be simple unless there’s an issue with your drive or board. It’s a straightforward process—just follow each step clearly and make sure you have the correct BIOS file from the support site.
I personally avoid turning off and on the power button during a BIOS flash. I’d even delay eating or leave it for 30 minutes or an hour, worried about damaging the motherboard by forcing a restart while it’s flushing. But first, have you attempted to boot the CPU? As far as I recall, it should start with the unsupported BIOS, since newer ones mainly handle voltage management and stability (I thought). You could try booting it and then update the BIOS afterward.
Hey! We've already tried starting it with the CPU in, but it doesn't boot at all. No BIOS screen appears, not even with or without a GPU. We also tested using the bootable USB from our current system to confirm. The motherboard itself won’t power down properly—pressing the power button turns it on, but it can’t be shut off. When we connected our machine to another computer via a power switch, it worked perfectly for both turning it on and off. Is this behavior normal?
I value your effort here, sincerely. However, I’ve gone through several videos from sources I discovered online—Reddit articles, MSI forums, and other niche computer communities. None of them have explained the process clearly. I know it should be straightforward, yet it hasn’t turned out that way for me. If something is missing, could you simply point me to the right step instead of sharing a video I’ve already seen many times? That would help me understand better this time.
It was the initial launch for Ryzen. How long did everyone wait? From what I understand, at least for a friend of mine, it functioned. He also had an MSI board, though I’m not sure if it’s a Tomahawk model.
They requested some calls, asked a few queries, and confirmed the issue with the board not functioning properly. They instructed us to send back the product. It seems my dad had a faulty board.
