Flash BIOS on Asrock Taichi for 5000 series without a CPU by using a method that bypasses the CPU entirely.
The site suggests using a CPU for flashing but the guide mentions a USB stick method works well. I’ve been delaying a motherboard upgrade and want to avoid damaging it.
I have the X570 Taichi (a solid, dependable board). Here are the steps:
1) Download the BIOS from ASRock's site.
2) Extract the file and rename it to "creative.rom", then move it to the root folder.
3) Plug in the USB device.
4) Press the Flash button for three seconds, then wait for the indicator to stop blinking.
5) Once done, you're finished. For more details, refer to page 38 of the manual.
Yeah, just the 24 pin power needs to be plugged in. I did mine with the CPU and everything installed, all wired up, but the 24 pin is all you really need to do this. Also, only follow what I said exactly if you have the X570 Taichi non-Razer edition. There might be subtle differences between each model (I.E. the B550 version might require a differently named BIOS file), and while there are protections in place that should prevent this from bricking anything, it's best to make sure before doing anything.
