Greetings! I'm a big fan of racing video games, and I decided to explore Forza Horizon 4. After researching the minimum and suggested system specifications, my computer exceeded the minimum requirements, so I downloaded the trial version to experience the game. However, during gameplay on the suggested (automatic) graphics settings, the game experienced severe lag. I subsequently reduced all graphical settings to their lowest levels, yet the lagging persisted. Do any of you have insight into this issue? Or perhaps you could suggest a fix?

Furthermore, Game-Debate indicates that my system should be capable of running the game at moderate settings.

SYSTEM DETAILS:
Processor: i7-7700HQ
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
Memory: 8 GB (single channel)
Storage: 120 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD

It’s improbable that a temperature problem is the cause, but you can utilize MSI Afterburner to monitor temperatures during gameplay. How long have you owned this laptop? Did these issues exist from the beginning? If it's newly purchased, you may be employing your integrated graphics processor instead of the dedicated one. I’m unsure how to…

Adding a single memory module won't improve performance; consider purchasing a kit containing two 4GB or two 8GB SODIMM modules to ensure compatibility with your laptop. Additionally, investigate potential overheating problems, a frequent occurrence in laptops—try utilizing a cooling pad or directing airflow towards the graphics card and central processing unit. (I experienced this while gaming on a laptop several years ago.)

What makes you think I possess a laptop? You didn’t bring it up at all.

Certainly, here’s a revised version:

Alright, but the laptop model is Asus fx503vd-e4146t.

However, I’m still puzzled by this individual… for instance.

… this particular setup is inferior to my own, yet it operates more effectively... I’m unable to run the game on minimal settings, while this person manages it effortlessly at a higher level.

There are a few potential causes for this.

The limited amount of memory could be restricting data transfer speeds.
Also, check if your NVIDIA and computer power settings are set to energy-saving mode; switching them to balanced or high performance might help.

Additionally, investigate whether overheating is a factor.

Finally, ensure you have the newest drivers installed for your laptop and graphics card. For NVIDIA drivers, consider using DDU to completely remove the existing driver or utilizing GeForce Experience for a streamlined download and removal of older files.

I attempted to examine the operating settings, but both options were set to maximum performance. I installed the latest drivers, yet the problem persisted.

Perhaps you’re correct and the issue lies with the memory—however, I'm hesitant to purchase new RAM immediately without confirming that’s the root cause. Is there a method to determine if this is indeed what's happening?

Furthermore, if I need to replace my RAM, must it be the exact same speed? How can I locate a compatible replacement stick currently installed in my laptop?
