Hello everyone. I began playing Doom Eternal through the Bethesda platform at a 4K resolution, and it functioned without issues for an extended period. However, when I attempted to launch the game again, it consistently froze. Consequently, I removed the application, rebooted my computer, and then reinstalled it. Upon attempting to restore the game to 4K, I discovered that only these screen resolutions were available: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, and 1280x960. I did not modify any of my PC's settings. This issue has never occurred for me previously.

Specifications:
Windows 10 Professional, fully updated; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti with the latest drivers installed; Acer Nitro XV273k 4K monitor; Intel Core i7-7700K processor; 16GB of RAM at 3333MHz; MSI Z270 PC Mate motherboard; Samsung 860 Pro EVO SSD; 2TB hard drive; 800W power supply.

Recently, Bethesda implemented a disruptive Denuvo anti-cheat system for Doom Eternal following its release that functions at the core of Windows, and has reportedly caused performance problems and various difficulties for many players. Consequently, it’s not unexpected that your issues might stem from this addition. However, due to significant criticism, it has been announced that this software will be removed in the upcoming 1.1 update.

Verify other games to confirm they operate smoothly without crashing. The freezing issue at 4K resolution could originate from the graphics card.

My other games all operate at 4K resolution without any issues. This one is different, though.

I recently updated my system. I acquired an ASUS Z370 motherboard and an Intel i7-8700K processor, and also experimented with a new graphics card. However, the issue persists despite these changes.

If the problem concerns only a single game, consult their help resources online to check for potential solutions or contact their support team directly.

More recently, Bethesda implemented a deeply intrusive anti-piracy system called Denuvo within Doom Eternal following its release, which functions at a low level of the operating system and has reportedly resulted in decreased performance and various problems for many players. Consequently, it’s not inconceivable that your difficulties stem from this addition. However, due to significant public opposition, a removal is scheduled for the forthcoming 1.1 update.

Hello everyone, thank you for your replies. I decided to reinstall Windows today for a separate reason. I’m currently downloading the game, and it should function properly.
