Hi everyone!

I’m experiencing significant lag in my local CS:GO server when playing with friends, and the server doesn't have any bots. Could you offer some assistance? My companions who connected through the internet were also encountering lag!

I realize that if only I were facing this issue, I would attribute it to my internet connection, but I’m also experiencing this lag, which isn’t present when playing on public matchmaking. Therefore, I suspect a hardware problem and want to know what upgrades might be beneficial.

Should I consider using a separate computer for hosting the server?

Here are my PC specifications:
Intel Core i7 3770
8GB DDR3 1600mhz RAM
Nvidia GTX 760 2GB
4 Mbps Cable Internet
Windows 10 Professional
WD Green 120GB 2.5 inch SSD (operating system and CS:GO installed)

There exist two potential delays in this scenario.
The server requires a separate, specialized device. If you host and operate from the identical machine, substantial performance issues—lag—will occur for both you and your companions.
A robust internet connection is essential. As the server operator, you must possess ample bandwidth before serving.
Approximately 20 megabits per second (Mbps) download with 2 Mbps upload represents a practical maximum for a single user connection.
Focus on upload speed during "Serving"; download rate is not the crucial element. The connection’s requirement is high upload capacity.
Conduct a speed test to determine your actual results.
Speed Test
Here are my findings: Upload and “ping” values are key considerations. Low ping and high upload are desired…

Two performance bottlenecks exist within this setup.
The server requires a separate, specialized device. Utilizing the same computer for both serving and operation necessitates a powerful system, otherwise you and your companions will experience delays.
A robust internet connection is absolutely essential. As the provider, sufficient bandwidth must be available before serving can commence.
Approximately 20 megabits per second of download capacity combined with 2 megabits per second of upload capability represents the practical maximum for a single user.
Focus on upload speed; download rate is not the determining factor during service delivery.
Conduct a speed evaluation to assess your current performance.
Speed Test
Here’s my result: Latency (ping) and Upload are key metrics. Low latency and high upload speeds are crucial.
