Fixing a Lenovo T560 computer
I am trying to fix a laptop that had water on the keyboard a few months ago and it has stopped working since. The touchpad still works, just not as well as it used to be. My laptop is actually fine with an external keyboard and mouse. I took everything apart but don't see any signs of the spill inside, even under the protective film. I removed the keyboard too and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol. All the ribbon cables look okay. The only thing the keyboard tells me to do right now is that the Fn key lights up all the time. Also, the laptop beeps a lot which I guess means the computer can't tell what the keyboard is telling it anymore. Is there something else I should check? I was thinking about buying a new one but if this sounds like a motherboard problem, I'm not going to bother with that.
I'd recommend taking everything apart and checking every single part of the PCB for any sign of water damage. You're probably going to find it there. If that spot was on an add-on card, you might just have to replace that one thing alone. But if the damage is on the MoBo, then you'll need to decide what comes next.
