Greetings,

I’m experiencing difficulties with my PS2 Slim recently. Each time I place a disc inside, the system either fails to recognize it or simply flashes before returning to the main menu after a brief period of playback. (Please see below for the primary issues). This issue has not presented itself previously – in fact, it was functioning perfectly three days ago. However, now the console completely ignores any disc I insert. The system is five years old and has previously operated flawlessly with a wide variety of games. I suspect the issue might be related to the lens, and I’m hoping someone can offer assistance.

The issues I am experiencing are:
Problem 1 – The game will not display or be recognized (Frequent)
Problem 2 – A disc reading error message will appear on the screen (Infrequent)
Problem 3 – The game appears on-screen, but then reverts back to the main menu after starting playback (Also Frequent, similar to Problem 1)

Disc Information:
The discs I have attempted to use are silver in color (those with a silver backing).

You might require an updated media player, or perhaps you could substitute the current system with a functional one—likely at a low cost. Have you attempted to clean the stylus using a cotton swab or similar tool? Testing it horizontally and on its side could reveal if this resolves the issue.

It appears you might require a fresh media player, or perhaps substituting the entire system with a functional device—likely at a low cost. Have you attempted to clean the stylus using a cotton swab or similar material? Testing it on its side and lying flat could reveal if this resolves the issue.
