: Fix Thunderbird or look for another email client?
: Fix Thunderbird or look for another email client?
I'm an older person with some memory challenges, making it hard to solve problems. I've been using Thunderbird for a long time (Windows 10), but setting it up and keeping it running has been tough. I have many email accounts, but the one I use most (a Gmail address) has stopped working. In December, it didn't download messages at all—probably because of the password. I'm certain I have the right password, since I used it before on other computers. I tried restarting it in troubleshooting mode, but it didn't help. I thought updating Thunderbird might fix the issue, and I did that, but emails for that Gmail account still don<|pad|>. (I can still download emails for a few others.)
Sometimes I get a hint that messages are there, but when I try to download them, the numbers say hundreds are loading, yet nothing appears. Also, I can't send messages from that account.
Is there anything else I should attempt? Maybe changing the password? (It would be a hassle, as I'd need to update it on other devices, but I think I can manage.) Or should I just stop using Thunderbird? Is there a simpler email client for beginners? I didn't reach out for help with Thunderbird, because most support requests don’t get answered. I’d be open to buying an easier email client if it had better support and was simpler to use.
I can still view my messages by logging into Google Mail, but I need a way to save important ones. From what I know, Google Mail doesn’t store messages forever.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Do you have Google's "2-Step Verification" activated? It adds an extra layer of protection for your account. When another device or application attempts to access your Gmail, a code is sent to your phone or another email address. Please inform me if you suspect this feature has been enabled.
