First Time Overclock
First Time Overclock
Hi everyone,
I've just upgraded to a new gaming PC and am considering ways to use my old one.
My current setup is still quite capable:
CPU
: Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz Sandy Bridge
CPU Cooler
: Intel Stock Cooler
RAM
: 16GB Dual-Channel DDR3 (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
: Gigabyte P67A-UD3P-B3 (Socket 1155)
GPU
: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER (Gigabyte) - Note: This was a new card after my 980Ti blew up.
SSD
: Samsung SSD 860 PRO 512GB
PSU
: Corsair VS650 650 W
My thoughts are:
- Upgrade the CPU cooler from the stock model?
- Consider switching to a Gigabyte Z77 DS3H?
- I haven’t really tried overclocking before, so it might not be necessary.
- I’m hoping to get better performance for streaming, since my 2500K lacks HyperThreading.
- Improving gameplay would be useful if I want to share it with a family member.
Looking forward to your suggestions, ideas, or tips.
Thanks!
More Voltage enables higher clock speeds, resulting in increased heat generation. Incorporate cooling solutions and continue the process.
I have moved to 4.2GHz and my temperatures are currently near 60 degrees during regular use.
I just found this product:

What voltage would be suitable?
