First boot
First boot
Start from BIOS before installing Windows or another OS. Ensure your hardware is recognized and the CPU fan operates properly. Once confirmed, place the installation media and restart. It’s a good idea to watch tutorials during the initial boot if this is your first time handling OS installation and BIOS settings. After launching Windows, drivers and updates become straightforward.
Don't follow this person's advice. Set up Arch, adjust WINE for Windows apps, then install Steam. Decide based on your driver issues. Running Linux is better for gaming if drivers exist and WINE works smoothly. The lightweight setup you can build with Arch boosts performance noticeably on lower-end machines and offers more stability on higher specs. Linux provides greater storage and RAM options compared to Windows' 128GB limit. You could even connect multiple Arch systems and, with a good network, use more cores than the number of replies here. It really depends on how much you want from your hardware.
Feeling utterly disoriented. Information doesn't quite align.
I partially agree, though 128GB isn't the upper limit for Windows 7 at least.
It really comes down to what the person needs. Most Windows apps work with Wine, though not every one does perfectly. The 128GB RAM limit is a concern, but it’s unlikely most regular users will reach it. Linux might be better for gaming, but there are games that don’t play well on Wine.
