Hi Guys, I had to make some changes on my main PC because of an unknown problem that was causing random restarts. Luckily, the old Ryzen 5 3600 and RAM are still functioning. I plan to use it for upgrading the living room PC. Here’s the setup:
System:
AMD RYZEN 5 5600G (stock cooler)
ASUS TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI 2 + 2x KINGSTON FURY BEAST 8GB @ 3200 (DDR4)
EVGA RTX 2070 BLACK EDITION
WD BLUE SSD 500GB (about 80% free) + WD GREEN SN350 1GB (about 75% free) + WD BLUE HDD 1 TB (about 70% free)
BEQUIET PURE BASE 500DX + CORSAIR RM750x
Only drivers were installed, no problematic software or RGB apps.
The issue began about a month ago. I ran AV (Avast Free) and a malware scan but found nothing. I cleared cookies, browser history, and tried the REFRESH option. Everything is up to date.
Every time I try Firefox, it usually works fine, but it often fails to fully load pages—whether it’s Hotmail, YouTube, weather reports, news sites, or anything else. About 9 out of 10 times it doesn’t finish loading a page. Sometimes it even shows the "No Internet" warning. The internet seems to be working perfectly, so there must be something wrong with my setup.
Another problem is that downloading files takes an unusually long time—even small files (a few KB) can take many seconds. This affects how quickly pages load or downloads complete.
Yesterday I turned the PC on and ran a ping to 8.8.8.8. At the same time, I used various apps like Browser, Steam, Blizzard, Logitech G Hub, played some games (including Diablo IV), and did minor tasks. During this period, Firefox was the only one that didn’t work properly. After a few hours, the ping improved to around +30,000 packages, with only 3 lost—possibly due to cloud saving during a game.
The most puzzling thing is that when I played a 30-minute YouTube video in Firefox, it played without issues.
I’m still confused. I tried Chrome too and it works perfectly.
Thanks for any help.
Yes, that was my final option, so I might have to do that.
Thank you.
In my initial message, AVAST Free is mentioned. From the beginning, I also use Malwarebytes several times, but nothing was detected.
Thank you Bob, I have already attempted all those steps and the various modes that Firefox and Mozilla suggest.
