I might have messed up when I swapped the CPU. To be clear, the machine wouldn’t start after I changed it. Since the power outlet seemed unstable, I connected it to a different socket, which produced smoke. I quickly unplugged it right away. My dad noticed the white smoke and suggested moving it to another room, even though I insisted it was dead. He stubbornly insisted on trying it again, insisting it would smoke once more. To prove him wrong, I recorded the whole process in a video. You can view it in the attached file, which shows him turning it on after I refused to touch it. After dismantling it, I found a bent CPU module with possibly broken pins and a small bulge on the back. Based on this, it seems the RAM is fine, but both the CPU and motherboard are likely dead. I think it’s safe to replace the RAM, get a new CPU, and maybe a new motherboard. I’m planning to buy new parts, or should I attempt to use the old CPU? Any other components should I be concerned about?

All details are ready. Your processor is damaged with a swollen PCB—do not use it. The board condition is similar. Other components appear to be in decent shape.

Looking for a budget plan for new components? Just a quick note—don’t expect cheap boards. Choose something capable of managing more than an 80W processor before it overheats.

The problem likely stemmed from the CPU not being properly seated, not a faulty motherboard. It was a Gigabyte H610M model, which should have caused an issue

Absolutely, that's the approach most likely to take. Just a reminder for next time!
