You've received your two BenQ XL2411Z monitors. I observed that during Skyrim at 144Hz it often lags, showing microstutter and flickering. From what I found, the engine struggles with refresh rates above 60Hz. There seems to be no built-in console setting to lock the frame rate specifically for Skyrim, but you might try adjusting in-game settings or using system tools to stabilize performance.

Navigate to the right-click area of your desktop, select screen resolution, go to advanced settings, and adjust the monitor tab to set the refresh rate to your preference.

You suggested using MSI Afterburner to control FPS, which seems like a smart approach. It would help avoid the issue of monitors going black after adjusting refresh rates, and it would simplify things by letting you set just one rate instead of two.

I enjoy my new monitors a lot. Are you receiving the 980 Ti? That seems off-topic. What modifications are you using for Skyrim? Thanks for your response.

Download ENB from the provided source and paste the wrapper folder contents into your main Skyrim directory where tesv.exe resides. Adjust enblocal.ini by setting "UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true" to true, update VideoMemorysizeMb to reflect your GPU's memory capacity. Then modify enblocal.ini so EnableFPSLimit is true and lower the FPS cap to 60. You might also enable WaitBusyrender to reduce input lag.

The issue isn't limited to monitors; it depends on your graphics card and settings. A high refresh rate can strain older or less powerful hardware, causing performance drops. Check your GPU capabilities and adjust settings if needed.

This doesn't function at 144hz.

I like them. It's pretty weird playing games because I'm used to 59/60Hz, so the smoothness is very strange. I came from a smaller monitor as well so these two 24 inchers are plenty big. Bigger than I actually expected. And regarding the 980Ti, I don't think so. I was going to originally use my $700 NewEgg gift card to purchase a Titan X, but then I realized the Titan X would be way overkill for the 59/60Hz rinky dink monitor I was rocking before. So I figured why not just get two 144Hz 1ms monitors and a Corsair K70 RGB from my gift card instead? This R9 290X has been treating me well in pretty much every game (hold for GTA V which I play on 40-50fps because I play it maxed out/near maxed) and I got it new for free, so I figured why not just hold onto it until I truly need to upgrade? It's a free $400 (last time I checked) card after all! I do believe it's all monitors. I was reading something on the Steam community forums from a couple of years ago where the game's engine just doesn't play nice with anything over 60Hz because it was ported over from consoles.. don't know how true that is, but yeah. Lol

When the FPS exceeds sixty, the physics engine and occasionally the scripting engine experience issues.
