Open Notepad, click right-click, select Run As Administrator. Choose File > Open and navigate to c:\windows\system32\etc\hosts. Add the desired entry at the bottom, then save changes and restart the system.

In Open Explorer, navigate to Network settings. You should see a yellow progress bar; click it and choose private connection. This won't assist if he can't connect via IP address.

No way to alter the port on the local network. I’m limited to the one set for internet use, which I don’t need right now.

Avoid using DNLA unless necessary, as it could interfere with other services. Uncheck the Network Neighborhood option. The TPNA is irrelevant for media sharing (which is DNLA), so disable it. In the Folder sharing area, turn off Share All Folders and Authentication, then mount smb:\\192.168.0.1\sda1 once more.

The media server is ready. I'm attempting to restart the router now. If that doesn't resolve the issue, I'll disable and re-enable the network settings checkbox. It should respond to \\192.168.0.1. This might be a tricky setup—let me know if you need further help.

Note: The path isn't supported on Windows, but the TPNA configuration works for the share.

Turned off Network Neighborhood, added the entire drive. I can set a folder name for the location I pick, so I added test. The test folder appears. However, smb:\\192.168.0.1\test doesn’t work. I also removed the `\test` part and tried again. I’ll reboot now.
