Hello,
It seems my system's bios keeps resetting every time I power it on. This started after I changed the thermal paste and did regular cleaning.
The simplest explanation for the problem is: once I turn on the system, it pauses briefly, then restarts and prompts me to reset the bios or load default settings.
Here are all the attempts I made:
- Replacing and reinserting the CMOS battery, adjusting the CMOS jumper.
- Refreshing the BIOS (this damaged my motherboard, so I swapped it out).
- Loading the default BIOS values (functioned briefly).
- Booting with onboard graphics.
- Keeping the power button pressed for 10–15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Checking the event manager for critical errors.
My system details are:
CPU: Intel i5 7th gen
PSU: Seasonic 620W
Motherboard: Asrock B150M Hyper/Pro
Ram: HyperX Fury 8gb (4x2)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Because you swapped the motherboard, the bios are likely not the issue. It's also conceivable you damaged another part due to static electricity, though this is uncommon.
