Find ways to extend Ethernet to your backyard area.
I finally managed to afford to build my own PC, there's just one problem... I'm not sure how to get ethernet to it. I live in a building in my parents backyard (ikr, what a bum), we had the building put in about 5 to 7 years ago. The power to the building is routed from the original breaker box on the main house, into a secondary box next to it, through some wiring laid in the ground, to another breaker box on the side of the building I'm in, then into the building. the main house was built around 1982 or '83. The modem is located in the living room, on the opposite side of the house from the breaker box. All of this has me thinking powerline may not be a viable option. The WiFi is total garbagio, so I'm not even really considering that as an option. I'll only be living here for another 2 months, so I don't need any drastic solutions (not that my mom would let me get away with any) but I don't want to be stuck with this nice, expensive PC that I can't use for a few months. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Purchase an extended Ethernet connection and place it throughout the area. Choose direct burial cables since they’re designed to withstand moisture and outdoor conditions. Although they cost more, you might locate a budget-friendly option under $50.
Sorry, my mom has some preferences, so changing the router isn't possible.
Consider a clean approach to removing the cable without making it appear hasty. If the situation is clear, your mother might expect you to handle it. As for burying the cables, it could work if you want to keep them out of reach from the dogs, but be sure to check local regulations first.

It’s probably better to talk it over with your mom first before she lets the dog out.
Create a drill hole in the interior of the house, install an electrical and plumbing line into the ground, bury an outdoor cable from the house to your location, and repeat the process at the other end. It's recommended to run two.
