I own an i3 laptop with just 4GB of RAM. My DJ software (Rekordbox) barely functions on it, so I considered... What if there was a DJ-specific OS? I initially thought about Linux, but they lack DJ-related apps! Then I thought... what if I created a VM tailored for DJs and ran it on another machine? It took some time to get it right. Now I’ve built a VM and tried deploying it. Interestingly, my laptop froze and the VM corrupted! I’m now working on an updated version. Development guidelines: 1) Only code for i3 processors with 4/8GB RAM 2) Keep deployment on the DJ machine straightforward 3) Pre-install essential apps like VLC, Chrome, etc. 4) Make it as minimal as possible! Most DJs perform in dim lighting—so they’ll play in the dark. My approach: use msgm/win toolkit and nt lite to slim it down. Install the ISO on the VM, tweak it, then create a deployment script (likely a .bat or .ps1 file). This project isn’t just for DJs with low specs—streamers and gamers are also in demand.

In my view, using DJ apps on a VM or a low-spec laptop isn't a great choice

Great advancement! Could you clarify your CPU model and whether VT-X is activated?

I'm not a DJ, but Ubuntu Studio combined with Mixxx might work.

THE SOFTWARE ISN'T RELIABLE. THAT'S WHY MANY DEVICES FAIL TO OPERATE.

You wouldn't know unless you looked beyond the basics. There are many tools available for Linux, especially with Ubuntu Studio as a versatile option. Mixxx is also widely used across both Windows and Linux environments. Music has been part of Linux for a while, so it's not unusual to find what you're looking for. Just search for what you need and explore.

I meant there are essentially no DJing programs available. I didn't think of the popular options such as Rekordbox Serato Traktor and Virtaul DJ.

I won't start programs from that virtual machine! I'll move it to a regular computer! You can definitely run Windows on two cores with two gigabytes of RAM—though it might be a bit slow.
