I recently discovered my old Acer Aspire | M laptop running Windows 10. When I attempted to log in, I realized the password wasn't correct. I searched online for ways to reset it, but none of the solutions helped—I couldn't find my account name in the net user list. Other suggestions recommended resetting the laptop, which I wasn't willing to do since I had many important files and photos. Is there another option to change the password without wiping everything?

Set up a portable Linux environment, transfer necessary files, and reinstall Windows afterward.

I would try removing the hard drive, connecting it to a computer to reset it, then reinstalling Windows.

Get the hirens boot CD featuring MiniXP, then insert a USB drive or stick, and copy the contents over.

Save all files and data. Transfer to external HDD or USB. Linux displays everything exactly as it is. It’s my preferred backup when I can’t start from Windows.
