My router is in my bedroom and my Smart TV is in the living room. It isn’t powerful enough to deliver strong speeds throughout the house, especially in the living room. For instance, I get around 90Mbps on my PC via LAN cable but only about 10Mbps through WiFi there—thanks to many walls. If I install a powerline extender, would it match the LAN speed? I don’t need the full 90Mbps; I just require roughly 50-60Mbps for streaming Netflix and YouTube in 4K. I’m also considering running a Cat6 cable from the router to the TV, but the distance is too long and it would look cluttered.
I know there's a bit of a performance hit with powerline adapters but provided it says it can do 100Mbit then your only limiting factor will be latency which can't be much worse than Wi-Fi. Powerline adapters aren't overly expensive so you'll just have to try it. I don't think your expectations are unrealistic.
