The issue seems linked to the integrated graphics on your motherboard. Switching to a different GPU might resolve it. Your R5 240 is newer, so it could help. Try installing it now and see if the problem persists.

It dates back a long time and isn't backed by either official or unofficial sources. Do you know the chipset that helps recognize the onboard graphics? It's a "Sea Islands" card—works but you'll need to do some extra steps after installation. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AMD...K)_support. The card is technically unsupported, having been in experimental use for years unless recent changes occurred. Compatibility with apps and the Desktop Environment might be inconsistent.

Regrettably, *nix doesn’t boast about its performance on older systems, overlooking factors like the loss of support for features that once made it appealing. It’s hard to ignore the reality that people stop using it, and in truth, keeping outdated hardware isn’t exciting anymore. I still value *nix as much as anyone else, but its recent path over the past decade feels disappointing.*

On the built-in graphics it freezes and stops working after switching wallpapers. Almost everything could be better. Appreciate the link you shared—it’ll be useful.
