I own an i7-8850h in a laptop; the i9 wasn't offered locally. From what I know, they can be swapped directly. All other details match. Sorry for the mistake—I had the incorrect model, it was i9-8950hk.

It wouldn't work without the right setup. Using it on a desktop usually means finding a special adapter and making sure your motherboard supports the processor's code. It only makes sense for devices from the same generation, like moving from 7820HK to Z170 Kaby Lake or from 8950HK to Z370. For laptops, you'd need a BGA reflow station, which is expensive and only available in certain companies. BGA soldering isn't like working with regular components—it's a specialized process.
