Chrome supports opening PDF documents. If you're unsure about a certain action... someone unfamiliar to you might help?

This situation doesn't seem to offer much support right now. Remember, getting unauthorized access is a serious concern. The safest approach is to stay alert and ensure your devices are current. Think of Chromebooks as basic phones with a keyboard and mouse attached.

The sender is a financial expert who provides tax-related documents and similar materials. I'm worried about the possibility of malware or viruses on their system without them realizing it.

You're describing a situation where you need to access sensitive financial documents on a Chromebook without opening PDFs on another device. You want to avoid using your Windows 11 laptop for sensitive work and prefer not to download files there. The key is to ensure the Chromebook is clean before each session.

Avoid risky activities on your computer you value. Stick to trusted, safe websites for important tasks. Normal, reputable sites are acceptable. Don’t take unnecessary precautions if you’re careful. That’s your responsibility.

You're wondering which device to use for this task. Before, I relied on my main Windows laptop for accessing financial sites and opening PDFs from others, but that raised concerns about potential malware. Now I'm worried those files could contain viruses, especially if the recipient isn't aware of any threats. I used a slow Windows 10 machine for this before, which made things riskier. My current setup includes only a Windows 11 laptop and a Chromebook. I'm unsure if cleaning the Chromebook thoroughly would eliminate any risks, especially since it's rarely used. I'm considering a deep clean of the Chromebook to ensure safety, then logging into my Google accounts on it for a while. After that, I'd avoid using it again for at least six months. This approach seems like a way to protect my financial data without exposing it to potential threats.

Right now I manage five Google sign-in accounts on my Chromebook. These are the accounts I use for browsing the web, watching videos, and accessing adult content. If I were to restart it, would it display any of these five Google accounts or remain blank like a brand new device? I could create a new Google account for financial sites and then restart it afterward. After that, logging into those five accounts would be possible. My goal is to ensure each account only has access to its intended site—so I wouldn’t want them all active at once. I have only two laptops: a main Windows machine and this Chromebook. If I had the slower Windows 11 laptop, I could use it for financial tasks, but I’d prefer not to risk infecting the main one.
