Hello, I'm experiencing an unusual problem that began today. Random artifacts appear on my desktop without showing up elsewhere—like in games, browsers, or apps. They vanish or change unpredictably when I restart the PC or just close Explorer.exe. I ran a system file check ("sfc /scannow"), but no issues were detected. I haven't altered any software or hardware, and the same background image has been present for months. It's not causing other problems, but it's still bothersome since it shouldn't happen. Anyone know what might be causing this? I'm on Windows 11. Any additional details would help. Thanks for your help, have a great day! After restarting Explorer.exe: Update: couldn't resolve it, so I gave up. After a Windows update yesterday, the problem disappeared and hasn't come back, suggesting it might be a Windows issue. No replies, but I thought updating could help if someone has a similar case.
