I am pretty adamite on the ryzen 7 3700x.I just needed to know if its decent to pair with the 3080 and last 3 years (My goal is not another upgrade for at least that long) I have already 16gb DDR4 3000MHZ. The 8 cores will future proof a bit as well as I play CPU intense games so im sure that will help slightly.
Well then, if you're targeting the 3700X, go for it. I'm currently running one and it performs well, especially when paired with my 3080. However, I plan to switch to a 5600X once it's released since I haven't seen any games leveraging my eight cores yet. I prefer the 6-core configuration for its speed. I should still be able to upgrade the 3700X for around 200€ later. EDIT: Most leaked benchmark results suggest the 5600X is at least as strong as the 3700X in multithreaded scenarios, so I wouldn't recommend it over the 5600X under any circumstances. I'd just hold off a few more days until the benchmarks are finalized.
If you purchase the 5600x, consider upgrading to faster RAM for better performance.
