It's essentially a tiny board that connects to your mainboard. You can remove it and swap it out without having to replace the entire board. Just verify with the device to confirm it works this way.

I fixed my HDMI connection at a local repair shop and saw the monitor function properly with my laptop's port. Thanks for the advice. Now I'm still having trouble. My current monitor isn't connecting to my laptop's HDMI port, but it works on my sister's machine. After more investigation, I found my laptop uses HDMI 1.4 (Asus TUF FX504GM-E4112T) and my monitor has an HDMI 2.0 port. Even though HDMI 2.0 is backward compatible with 1.4, it seems there might be a compatibility issue. If not, what should I do to fix this?
