Hello! I'm planning to relocate to my student residence next year, but it doesn't have an Ethernet port—only high-speed Wi-Fi. My motherboard (Asus X470-F Strix) lacks a built-in Wi-Fi antenna, so I need a workaround. I've considered PCI-E antennas, though I'm unsure they'll fit given the vertical GPU mount and the Lian-Li 011 Dynamic. USB adapters were an option, but I've heard they aren't very reliable and take up a full USB port. A M.2 Wi-Fi card seems like a solid choice so far—it's affordable, compact, and would work well. What do you think would be the best solution? Thanks in advance!

If you have extra space in your setup I’d choose a PCIe or M.2 Wi-Fi adapter. They’re usually compact and straightforward to fit. USB connections can be less stable, as I only use a spare Wi-Fi dongle occasionally; they often suffer from strange signal drops even close to the access point and aren’t as quick. Plus, availability varies by person—USB ports might be scarcer on some boards compared to PCIe slots.

My device has seven USB connections and I’m actually utilizing all of them. It seems the case ports might work, but I usually connect external drives there. On the other hand, I’m uncertain about using an Ethernet adapter to switch to Wi-Fi since my room doesn’t have a wired connection.

This choice looks strong, but since my GPU is mounted vertically, I don’t have extra PCI-E slots to attach this adapter. I might be able to remove the metal support bar and install it directly on a PCI-E slot in the board, which would free up space—but I’m not sure if the antennas would fit properly.

Use an Ethernet cable to link the adapter to your PC. The adapter includes a WI-FI antenna that receives and sends wireless signals from a router, then transmits data back to your computer via Ethernet. You don’t need a local Ethernet connection; just an Ethernet cable and the adapter will work with your computer’s Ethernet port.
