I’m trying to find a router for my Ubuntu server that sits behind a DMZ. I need something budget-friendly around $60 and want to set up a DMZ because Xfinity isn’t working well. It should be simple enough for someone new to networking. Any advice would be great!

You're on the right track with Xfinity and port forwarding. If you're using their gateway, that's likely the issue.

I don't have access to the xFi system, so I've chosen to use a dmz as a simpler alternative.

Your concern is clear. You opted for their gear, but port forwarding remains just one of several reasons I won’t use it. Plus, I can cut costs each month, which is always a plus.

If you still want to purchase a router, consider swapping the main one and doing it properly.
