Yesterday I figured it was finally time to set up Ubuntu 18.04 on my HP zbook studio G3. (Nvidia Quadro M1000M). I installed it normally, updated the kernel to 4.17, and added the nvidia-390 drivers with aptitude. But soon I noticed severe screen tearing during basic actions like moving windows or playing full-screen videos. I looked into many solutions shared online—changing PPA, editing files, adjusting nvidia-drm settings—but nothing worked. If anyone has tips to fix this issue, please let me know. I’ll share more details if needed (I didn’t want the post to be too long).

I'm having trouble with my setup. Switching the monitor on and off seems to help, and a system restart also works. It might be related to Vsync not staying active when apps run in fullscreen. Occasionally Vsync glitches completely. I know it doesn't fix the problem but I've tried.
