You're planning a new PC for 3D rendering and need an Intel motherboard with LGA1700 socket and DDR5 support. You're considering the MSI MEG Z690 ACE or ASRock Z690 Taichi, aiming for a configuration that fits a RTX3060 and two RTX A5000 NVLinked GPUs under $800. Let me know if you'd like any recommendations!

Typical rendering jobs don’t gain much from faster memory speeds. Are you certain your project will improve with DDR5? Right now, DDR5 is extremely expensive. A DDR4 Z690 setup would be a smarter choice if you prioritize cost savings.

Get a DDR4 board for savings. It offers speed and low cost, while DDR5 provides minimal benefit and extra expense.

Taking into account the GPU expenses around 6000, the 2-300 price gap isn't too important. DDR4/5 differences won't matter much, and DDR5 probably won't help with rendering. For working with design studios, I plan to stick with this system for a few years.

If you don’t focus on value, then why did you impose an $800 cap on platform costs? Why are you fussing over a 3060 instead of opting for a 3090? Just grab Taichi, Godlike, or Aorus Master and pair it with a 12900K if you’re after the top performance. Don’t overlook getting a minimum of a 360mm AIO for cooling.

why not the 3090? I was thinking about using 2x3090 NVLink, but the power consumption is quite high, especially outside render mode. There’s no point in sticking with the 3090 if there are limits and it won’t fit my needs. Looking for a board around 1500 would take a while, but I don’t need that much overkill. Right now I’m planning an Intel Core i9-12900F with 8 cores/8 threads, 2.40-5.10GHz, boxed CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB, DDR5-5200, 2x SAMSUNG SSD 980 PRO 1TB, NVMe, and a heatsink like ASROCK Z690 Taichi or MSI MEG Z690 ACE. The original question was about whether these components would work together. I’m not sure yet, but I want to avoid buying everything at once—I plan to get the PC in the next week or two, when the 5000-series might be available.

All A5000 cards use dual slots and share the same cooler built by Nvidia. The 3060 has more complex cooling options since its cooler designs differ. With the Taichi and Ace models, the bottom slot sits at the very bottom, making it hard to find a case that fits a card below the board with a lower slot than typical ATX. It might be worth using a riser cable to mount the final card vertically.

If I can secure a case with sufficient space at the bottom, this should work (refer to the image).

According to the motherboard documentation, the bottom port will support PCIe 4.0 x4 while the upper two ports are PCIe Gen 5 x8. It's unclear if your project needs higher bandwidth, which might affect speed. https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z690 Taichi/index.asp#Manual

Thanks a lot! I reached out to the PNY regarding the setup issue and hope they can get back to me soon.
