I set up a 5.1 speaker system on an ASRock PG velocita B550 board with various ports, but I'm still facing issues getting 3.5 audio from streaming services. The platform doesn't support 5.1 tracks without extra tools, and it only plays rear channels when used. This is puzzling since a testing site lets me see it working perfectly. I'm trying the Edge browser now. Any suggestions or alternatives could help?

Back then, multi-channel surround sound from Windows was very popular. Nowadays, most people just do it better without bothering much. I can't confirm on YouTube whether it properly supports encoded 5.1 audio, though it might have done so once. Are you listening through Windows? Using a web browser as your source? Do browser-based players actually produce discrete 5.1 files? I’m sure services like Netflix heavily restrict playback quality when accessed via the browser, especially in video format. They usually only offer low-bitrate 1080p versions, which isn’t great. If you want top-quality video and sound, try using a Netflix app on a smart TV or a device like Chromecast/AppleTV.

It's a small but useful tool. I tested it on my system and everything seems to function well with my Bose Companion 5 setup. Appreciate the feedback!

The dedicated app works through edge, or via the edge browser on my Windows 10 device. I lack a TV or console suitable for streaming services because they either don’t support them (my LG passive 3D TV is outdated and won’t connect to their webstore) or I can’t agree to updated terms of service that wouldn’t include modern app support. Even if I tried, I don’t have a way to extract 5.1 audio from the TV since I don’t have an optical receiver or input, and I’m unsure if it could decode Dolby/DTS formats.
