Use a virtual machine or a Windows PC for the media creation tool. Previously, it didn't work with Wine.

You might need the media creation tool because it simplifies the process beyond just downloading an ISO file and transferring it to a USB drive with Etcher or similar software. The instructions seem too complicated, while image-writing programs handle everything automatically with minimal steps.

Previously, my attempt failed since Windows has unique characteristics that make it difficult for standard tools to function across different operating systems.

Download the ISO from MS. If you're not using Windows, it will display ISO links instead of the media creation tool. Use etcher, Rpi imager, or other options to proceed.

I ran the command using the correct file path and USB settings. I checked that the USB was unmounted beforehand.

Start by installing the Windows Media Creation Tool for Windows 10 20H2. After launching it, download the ISO file and decide whether to install it directly on your device or generate a bootable media. Select the latter option and pick the bootable format.

Check this out — there are plenty of cases, especially Ventoy being the top example. Use 'buning' along with Ventoy; you just need to paste the ISO.
