I need to share some horror game recommendations based on what you've mentioned. Think about titles that match the atmosphere you're after—something intense and unsettling without relying on zombie themes. Mods like conversion packs can help tailor experiences while steering clear of certain franchises. Let me know if you'd like more details or suggestions!

I've already tried levels 3, then watched 1 and 2 (I'll make changes in the post)

Doom 3 BFG version with surround sound and no light Dead Space 1 with surround sound is a nice touch. Dead Space 2 and 3 work but don’t capture the same eerie, tight vibe as F.E.A.R. 2. It was decent overall, though only a few parts felt genuinely terrifying. S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Cherynobyl adds some atmosphere.

Explore every part of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. The full set is available at a reasonable price these days (around eight dollars).

SOMA is a title by Frictional Games, known for Amnesia, offering a rich narrative experience. It's more story-focused, yet it can deliver intense suspense when played thoroughly.

I’m considering trying those titles: SOMA, F.E.A.R, S.T.Al.K.E.R, and Dead Space 1. Have anyone played Penumbra games? What do they think? Also, are there mods available? I prefer games without heavy combat or complex mechanics—something like a simple horror experience works best. Thanks for the suggestions!

If you manage to bypass the controls, it's fine. Clearly, the game is quite old by now, yet it remains enjoyable.
