Hey there! I'm looking for some advice on choosing a motherboard for my new 5900X. Since I mainly play games and work with software, I want something reliable but not too heavy on overclocking. I've ordered two sets of Patriot Viper 4400 MHz 16GB kits and will handle the overclocking myself. I came across four options online—Strix B550-F, MSI B550 Tomahawk, MSI B550-A, and an MSI MPG X570. Which one fits my needs best? Let me know your thoughts!

I haven't used an MSI board much before, and I didn't have a great experience. Asus has always been reliable for me. Usually it's my mistake if something goes wrong. I prefer my B550-F and would buy it again. However, the price jumped 60 dollars since I bought it at Newegg.ca. Many people like their MSI boards, so maybe that's why. I don't like the Intel Lan model either. It takes about 38 seconds to initialize after a boot or when waking from sleep. Apart from that, it's been quite dependable for memory clocking and handles my CPU without issues. Of course, I wanted a 5600 but couldn't find one and still can't get one.
I've only used MSI boards before and they've always worked well for me. The B550-F has been getting good reviews lately, which is why I was considering it...I think I'll have to choose between the two. Regarding the CPU, I finally got the 5900x after waiting a week on a backorder from ShopRBC. If you're interested in the 5600x, I've heard people say they arrive within 1-3 days after ordering.

Good VRM usually pairs well with OCs memory. Strong VRM performance makes it a top all-around overclocker, though the USB setup isn’t ideal if that matters. It’s not quite as impressive as Tomahawk VRM, but offers more USB ports and lacks Wi-Fi. Compared to the first three, it’s the worst overclocker, but probably only by a small amount. Skip this board—it has poor VRM value for its cost and an outdated memory design that may limit overclocking potential. Many B350 boards match or exceed its power delivery.
