You're curious about using an Xbox with a Windows 10 hard drive. It's possible in theory, but compatibility depends on the Xbox model and how you connect it. Would you like advice on the setup process?

You need a new HDD running Windows 10, a mainboard, power supply, processor, RAM, and a Dremel.

The Xbox CPU was a specialized Intel processor, and I believe no standard Windows version would support it. The graphics card would also lack compatible drivers. If the setup fails, as Curious Pineapple mentioned, you could modify it and construct a PC from scratch. (Those older Xbox models had adequate space, and there are now some compact parts available.)

BIOS settings are available if you have the ability to reach the original console. That system was the last one capable of running additional operating systems.

Windows CE operated on the device, the mouse functioned but without a cursor, and the project was eventually dropped. The initial operating system was Windows 2000; it might be feasible to install a complete version of Windows 2000 on it using the kernel source, and integrate the Xbox-specific modifications (like missing PCI bus).

I hope Microsoft would share the kernel code for 2k/XP and fully open source Win9x just for fun.

Their process is ongoing, offering a substantial portion of the Windows API and exposing potential security weaknesses, which simplifies emulating or translating applications. I possess the source for the Xbox kernel somewhere, and I recall the SP1 release for 2k was leaked but that specific version wasn’t discovered.

This was my take, not a developer by any chance. I finished a C# and C++ class, but I’m totally unsure how to use it. I just need the real developers to have access to it. The React OS team would definitely be thrilled if they saw that code!
